Our Story

Twenty Years of Tedious Work.
Then We Built a Way Out.

Thizo started with a simple belief: the people who design our world shouldn't spend most of their time on documentation.

Where This Started.

For generations, architects, engineers, and designers have shaped the places where people learn, work, live, heal, and play. The design itself has always evolved. The production work behind it largely hasn't.

By mid-2024, our team had hit a wall. Twenty years of commercial design work had made one thing clear: too much of every project schedule was consumed by documentation — repetitive, detail-intensive work that left little room for the creative thinking clients were actually paying for.

We weren't looking for a shortcut. We were looking for a real solution. When we couldn't find one built for how our industry actually works, we built it ourselves.

Built by Designers, for Designers.

Thizo wasn't founded by a software company that decided to enter the AEC market. It was founded by a designer who spent two decades inside it — managing CD sets, coordinating with engineers, navigating contractor RFIs, and watching billable hours disappear into production work.

We're three licensed commercial Interior Designers, two Architects, and two Civil Engineers — a team with decades of industry-native experience. We came together because we believe our industry deserves better tools. We love this work. We want more time to spend on the creative parts of it. We've watched other industries accelerate by integrating technology, and we built Thizo because we know the same is possible for ours.

That background shapes everything about how Thizo works. We understand what a construction document set actually requires. We know what firm standards look like in practice. We know the difference between output that's technically correct and output a licensed professional can actually use and sign.

A Few Words From Valerie.

I spent ten years practicing in commercial design before I left the industry and built a technology company in another space. In 2024, while consulting for small firms on the East Coast, I found that in the seven years I'd been away, the industry had not kept up with technology integration. My friends and colleagues were struggling more than ever — buried in tedious work, stretched thin across mounting project requirements, losing talent they couldn't afford to lose.

Technology is developing rapidly. We are at a pinch point. Shying away from it — or waiting for someone else to solve it — puts our industry further behind. Adjacent industries are already investing in AI and Machine Learning, priming to cut design, architecture, and engineering studios out of the process entirely. That is not the future I want for this profession.

Designers, Architects, and Engineers have always adapted. New materials. New methods. BIM. We've done it before and we'll do it again. Thizo exists to make sure that adaptation happens on our terms — led by people who have actually done this work.

What Does "Thizo" Mean?

"Thizo" is the phonetic spelling of I build in Greek.

To us, the name is a statement of empowerment for an industry that hasn't felt empowered to create for decades. Buried in documentation, stretched thin across mounting project requirements, watching billable hours disappear into production work — the profession has been building less and less of what it set out to build.

Thizo is another tool in your toolbelt. Not a replacement. Not a threat. A tool — built by people who understand what you're building and why it matters.

You design. You build.

Where We're Going.

The AEC industry is overdue for a production shift. The firms that move first will take on more work, reduce rework, and free their teams to focus on what they were trained to do. We're here to make that transition as straightforward as possible — and to keep building tools that raise the ceiling on what a design firm can accomplish.

We're glad you're here.

Our Mission.

To free design professionals from the tedious work that gets in the way of great design — so they can focus on what they actually went to school for.

Our Values

We are made by and committed to the Architecture, Engineering & Design industry.

Humans First

Humans First

Our clients are our priority. We build for how firms actually work — not how software companies assume they do.

Be Bold

Be Bold

We take on the hard problems. Real solutions for an industry that has waited long enough for technology built specifically for it.
